David Bowie & Iman
I’m very excited that this shoot FINALLY came to life! Melissa & I got connected due to a styled shoot that she participated in that was submitted to our publication. She initially reached out wanting to collaborate & loves the magazine’s overall vision, so we met in person over some margaritas at Mi Cocina (typical thing for me to do) & kept in touch. Melissa pitched the idea to do a David Bowie & Iman shoot to pay tribute to him, I said okay let’s get to planning! This was originally supposed to be a Fall/Winter shoot, but you know how planning shoots are so we ended up pushing it back. We regrouped at the beginning of the year, resumed planning, etc. It all worked out in the end because due to me assisting with planning Dallas Startup Week, I ended up meeting the perfect David Bowie model who was one of our event co-organizers. I haven’t utilized my creative direction skills in a LONG time due to scheduling conflicts when trying to plan shoots in the past, so this was a breath of fresh air. This was also the first shoot I’ve ever done that I wasn’t the makeup artist for and took a shot at styling which I enjoyed so much. Melissa’s excitement the day of our shoot was the icing on the cake and made all this crazy planning so much more worth it. I’m looking forward to doing so many more styled shoots in the future to develop my portfolio and meet different creatives.
